Legendary Stances

The legends of Tyria are not the same as those of elsewhere. The following lore applies instead to each of the legendary stances. Their gameplay is unchanged.

Legendary Alliance Stance

An Age ago, a cult of Tiamat assassinated the king of Emreth, to the east. With a great sacrificial rite, they summoned an immense flood of darkness that covered the entire capital.

The resulting legion of undead threatened neighboring lands with extinction—until the most unlikely of alliances formed. Two dominants, of Odin and Bahamut—mortal enemies by patronage—fought back against the horde. Their crusade brought them into the heart of the former capital, where they gave their lives to bring true Death to the former king, who had now become a Blighted amalgamation of flesh, and whose very existence sustained the aetherflood.

Over the following years, the flood slowly faded. Today, ‘tis known as the Necrohol of Emreth, and few dare approach it, for minor floods of Dark and roaming undead infest the ruins still.

Over time, it grew into a haven of healing, and when she passed away of age, the Greenguard were founded in her memory. They keep watch over the grove to this day, providing succour to the sick
