Stormsinger

In the frost-burnt mountains of the far north and upon the storm-wracked western seas, there are bards who practice an art known as Stormsinging. Wielding only their voices, they shape wind, beckon blizzards, and unleash lightning, using the power of music to manipulate the weather.

Tradition dictates that stormsingers, as the name implies, sing. While most follow this trend, there are those who hum, howl (assuming one’s the anatomy for it), or even recite epics and poetry. Some play wind instruments, most commonly the horn, and a rare handful were known in history to use other methods still.

Stormsong

As you join the ranks of the stormsingers at 3rd level, you gain an expanded list of storm-swept spells to choose from when learning bard spells. The following spells are added to the bard spell list for you.

Spell level Spells
Cantrip Honed bolt, ray of frost
1st Fog cloud, frost fingers
2nd Rime’s binding ice
3rd Lightning bolt, sleet storm
4th Storm sphere
5th Cone of cold, control winds
6th Chain lightning
7th Whirlwind
8th Control weather
9th Storm of vengeance

Additionally, when you gain this feature, you may exchange one of your bard cantrips known for one of the cantrips on the expanded list.

Steady Resonance

You enhance your storm-calling spells with howling wind and fierce frost. When you cast a spell that deals cold, lightning, or thunder damage, you can add a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die to one damage roll of that spell. (The die is not expended.) If the spell does not have a verbal component, you must either forgo this bonus or choose to add a verbal component to the spell as you cast it.

Additionally, while performing in stormy weather, you make Performance checks with advantage.

Aeolian Aria

Upon reaching 6th level, you become more attuned to the whims of the winds and weather. You learn the cantrip gust; it is a bard spell for you. When you cast it, you can choose among the following effects in addition to those the spell normally offers:

If you use one of the above options, the spell’s duration is instead one hour, and any previously ongoing non-instantaneous effects of the spell immediately end. You can dismiss the spell’s effects as an action.

Additionally, you can detect the approach of a natural storm 24 hours in advance of it reaching the your current location, and you always know whether or not the weather you experience around you is supernatural or not.

Threnody of Tempests

Upon reaching 6th level you learn to sing a shielding song that can blunt the jaws of lightning and the slashes of great winds.

As a reaction when you or a creature you can see within 30 feet of you takes cold, lightning or thunder damage, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to protect yourself. You and the other target, if there is one, gain resistance to the triggering damage type until the beginning of your next turn, including against the triggering attack.

Winter’s Ballad

When you attain 14th level, you learn to call forth the fury of the storm. By expending a use of your Bardic Inspiration you unleash a haunting dirge, summoning a raging blizzard in a 20-foot-radius sphere around yourself.

Each creature other than you within the area must make a Constitution saving throw. A creature takes 5d6 cold and 5d6 thunder damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. Falling snow then makes the sphere lightly obscured until the beginning of your next turn.

You may designate up to 5 creatures you can see within the area that will be unharmed by the tempest you unleash. Instead of dealing damage to them, the churning storm charges those creatures with static electricity. The next time each of those creatures hits with an attack, the static around that creature is discharged, and the attack deals additional lightning damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die. The static charge fades 1 minute later if it has not been discharged by an attack.

You can use this feature once, after which you must complete a long rest, or expend a spell slot of sixth level or higher in addition to the use of your Bardic Inspiration, to use it again.
